A Commitment To Yourself

I have been wearing myself thin these past few months feeling emotionally drained. I've been making an effort to improve my physical shape by going for a swim twice a week. People can say that I am not doing much but who are they to know me? Do they go swimming twice a week while battling fears of going to public places at the same time?

Its easy for people to criticize me for whatever I do, but hello, my life is mine to live, not yours. Worry about your own problems and worries instead of worrying about mine. I'll be fine and am living very well thank you.

Hence, with these feelings and thoughts in mind, I'd like to talk about "A Commitment To Yourself".

When was the last time you gorge yourself silly after avoiding certain foods for some time and felt good about it instead of feeling guilty?

When was the last time you bought yourself new clothes instead of always buying new ones for others?

When was the last time you felt good about something you did instead of being affected by others' comments or criticism?

There's this saying that we all know so well and hold dear to, or do we?
"Be true to yourself."

How true have you been to yourself? The image of manhood in society is that real men don't cry, no wonder according to statistics, men suffer depression and other illnesses because of repressed emotions, men feel guilty if they break down and are even chided by society. I want to challenge this notion laid down by the society. Real men don't cry and suffer for it silently.

Again, I shall say this, "How true have you been to yourself?"

Take time to sit down and think through about all your life's experiences. Are they making you stronger or making you weaker?

If you haven't been able to feel good about yourself, or if you haven't been able to do the things you always wanted to do, set yourself free today and be true to yourself - your emotions, your beliefs, your thoughts. Don't ignore them, don't give in to them, but make them work for your own good.

Make a commitment to yourself today.
