Maids - Humans Too!

I read with anger about an Indonesian maid who passed on yesterday due to very sad circumstances in our country.

Can the Ministry of Manpower please explain why after telling the press that the passing rate for the English Entry Tests for maids are at a 95% that this very unfortunate and preventable mishap had taken place?

Maids from countries like Indonesia, Myammar and others do not have equal opportunities like us Singaporeans who take education as a norm and a basic right.

I understand the need for maids to be able to communicate well in English but is there really such a need for written tests? Why not make it oral instead?
