My Thoughts As A Singaporean On GE 2011
I as a Singaporean feel proud that the Opposition has finally managed to garner more seats in parliament, they should not just restrict themselves to just checking and balancing the new and upcoming government. They should also propose enhancements, additions, amendments as well to policies already implemented before the GE that are affecting a lot of Singaporeans too.
I hope to see Aljunied become more lively and vibrant with the new team at the helm.
I personally feel that Mr Tan Chuan Jin and Ms Nicole Seah are actually of very good character.
Ms Nicole, please work harder within the next 5 years and I believe you will gain even more greater success with your work with the residents.
Mr Tan, you are very affable and well-liked by the people as you are willing to just lend a listening ear and propose solutions such as including people within different classes mixing in and helping others. Nevermind that people may criticize your plans as not "solid" enough. I believe within the next 5 years you will gain more experience as a Member of Parliament and understand more the needs of not just the people of Marine Parade, but also Singapore.
Mr Chiam and Mrs Lina Chiam having lost their contests in both Bishan/Toa Payoh and Potong Pasir is a very sad thing for me. But still, now that Mr Sitoh Yih Pin has taken over the helm of Potong Pasir, please fulfil your promises to the residents.
Mr Chiam and Mrs Lina Chiam, thank you both so much for walking the walk and talking the talk, you have my utmost respect and admiration as a Singaporean even though I am not from your district(s).
For the next 5 years, I believe the new Goverment will address the already existing concerns, grievances and issues a lot of us Singaporeans are unhappy about. Nevermind whether it is the People's Action Party, Workers' Party or any other political party. Please work together hand in hand for every single Singaporean and put aside your differences for the greater good.
God bless Singapore with peace, prosperity, unity and strength.
