Singapore Government Eases Up A Bit On Political Film-making
According to what I read this afternoon in The New Paper (and as well today's issue of the Straits Times), the government is loosening up its stand on political filming which I feel is a good signal that there will be more local filmmakers coming forward with their films. I still feel that there is a very huge gray area as to when and where are the limits concerning stepping out of one's boundaries being very unclear.
I hope that we can get to see videos on TV and not just only on Youtube, informing and educating us on matters like any upcoming elections, views and stories from the MPs, NMPs and opposition parties which I feel still has a long long way to go.
Two of my own suggestions to the Government are:
1.) Come out with a "manual" on the codes, ethics, dos and dont's of political film-making for the public (and as well as local film-makers) to see, view, know and understand.
2.) Don't just restrict new media to online video sites like Youtube, perhaps there could be a special channel allocated to this?
