Tips On Public Presentation

I would like to share with my blog readers some useful tips on public presentation:

1.) Rehearsal is ever SO important!
Even if it is just going through your presentation the previous night, every little thing matters.

Always go through your presentation materials before you even go up to the stage to present, this will help you be prepared and prevent you from looking like a fool not knowing how to deliver your content across to the audience.

2.) Quick Thinking
This takes lots of effort and time to develop but is absolutely critical especially when things go wrong or when a member of the audience asks a question that stumps your mind, making your heart beat in a flutter.

Think ahead if necessary before you go onto another slide or when the time comes for an Q&A session.

For example, I am presenting on How To Be A Salesperson Effectively. If I'm just going to read from the slides, I'll bore not just myself but also the audience, hence, quick thinking comes in at this point. Think ahead or think quickly some possible words/phrases that you can use.
This is often the toughest for people who are not accustomed to thinking quickly on the spot.

3.) Projection
Learn to project your voice across instead of making it creep awfully out of your throat, causing another "Careless Whisper" moment.

Projection simply means that when you are speaking, people can hear you, rather than people thinking that you are mumbling some mumbo jumbo.

Learn to speak loud and clear, this is part and parcel of projection.

What else does it mean to project your voice? Try this: Imagine you are in a small room, in front of you is an object, you want that object to hear your voice, how are you going to speak to it? If your normal speaking routine is just for people around you to hear you, this is a good time to practice voice projection.

I hope that the material above can help you prepare for your next presentation. :)
