Tuesday's Thoughts
I was thinking of something due to the videos I watch on Youtube about past Hurricanes that hit the US and how peoples' lives were affected. I am thankful to God that Singapore is relatively safe from these kinds of storms and other natural calamities except for the slight occasion where some parts of the Island can feel tremors when earthquakes happen in nearby Indonesia.
We Singaporeans have a lot to be thankful for:
1.) Firstly, as above-mentioned, we are free from natural calamities.
2.) Secondly, we have one of the best education system in the World which attracts students from various countries to come and study in Singapore.
3.) Thirdly, look at all the kinds of food you can find in our hawker centers, foodcourts and eateries.
4.) Fourthly, we have the best healthcare in the SE-Asia Region even though it is relatively expensive.
5.) Lastly, there are equal chances for every Singaporean to succeed depending on how he/she wants to.
Even though i do not really like the hot weather here, yet it is the very thing I miss when I travel overseas with my family. Contradicting isn't it?
I am happy to be born in my family and to have my grandmother, mother, father, brother and sister as my only family in this world. In the past, I used to resent both my parents. As I learn to think differently, I am grateful for my parents, grandmother and siblings who have been there for me when I had my worst days and my best days.
My father can be very humorous. Here's an example: When I received a monetary award during my studies in ITE, I asked my father if he was happy about my achievement, he said yes with a blank expression. I was not happy that my father didn't seem to mean it by saying he was happy with an expressionless look on his face. But now, I've learnt that love need not be expressed by facial expressions alone, but also in action and thoughts. Isn't what people say that "it's the thought that counts that matters?"
My mom used to tell me this, "When friends are no longer around for you, your family is and will be the ones there still around for you."
