Here's an analogy on marriage taken from somewhere that i read (can't remember where):

Before marriage, she talks and he listens
During engagement, he talks and she listens
After marriage, they both talk and the neighbours listen

Here' another analogy on marriage by me:

(Wife:)
Before we got married, he gave me chocolates and cards.
During our wedding, we gave our relatives chocolates and cards.
After our wedding, he gave our children chocolates and all i got was not even a card.
