Dumpling Festival

It's the time of the year again for Chinese all around the world where they honor an legendary Chinese hero who saved his country (China) by using rice dumplings as a mode of passing paper messages around to warn people of impending doom. The Chinese honor this hero by wrapping Rice Dumplings on this yearly occasion.

Chinese families come together to wrap Rice Dumplings consisting of dried mushrooms, pork, dried prawns, chestnuts, eggs, glutinous rice and pandan leaves. It's a time of family bonding as well.

*There's also a type of Chinese Dumpling where the ingredients comprises only of glutinous rice dyed yellow in color and is eaten together with sugar by dipping the dumping into the sugar.

ChinaTown has a lot of places selling these Rice Dumplings (my mother always buys them from stalls in the area).

The process of preparing and cooking Rice Dumplings is no easy feat from what my friends told me, its a long and arduous process which can take up to hours.
